EMMANUEL SANTARROMANA - FAB 4 EVER - 2006

After ten years of classical percussion and following a PR job with a music label, Emmanuel Santarromana finally got into the clubbing scene as additional percussionnist for DJ Mandrax, Charles Schillings, Laurent Garnier… in the most important European clubs such as the Mad (Lausanne), Plastic People (London), the Queen and the Rex Club (Paris).

In 1998, he started DJing, and hasn't stop spinning since, except for a stint managing his own restaurant Le Royal Mondétour, a stylish Parisian meeting place for the world of fashion and music.

Emmanuel went on to design the soundtrack for fashion shows by Barbara Bui, Guy Laroche and Fred Sathal, who asked him to mix the first "Barbara Bui Café" compilation released by Pschent in April 2001.

His selection for two "Plaza Club" compilations (named after his famous club nights at Les Bains) confirmed his reputation as an essential DJ on the European clubbing scene.

The album this post is a tribute to the Beatles. It was launched in 2006 by Rob Digital, Pschent and OpenDisc. The disc highlight is the Flying and Sun King songs that rarely appear on tribute albuns.

Segue mais uma coletânea de tributos, lançada no Brasil pela gravadora Oliver e a Memo Music, com seleção realizada por Ney Padilha.

Esse disco, assim como tantos outros, não trazem maiores informações sobre o processo da seleção e nem tampouco da sua data de lançamento. Há faixas com interpretações muito interessantes, mas nem todas as canções são composições de Lennon & McCartney. Vale a pena ouví-las.

THE COVERTONES - RELEMBRANDO THE BEATLES (S/ DATA)

Segue mais um tributo instrumental que não acrescenta muita coisa em termos de releitura. Trata-se do álbum "Relembrando The Beatles", do grupo The Covertones, lançado no Brasil pela gravadora Alldisc, com o selo Scala, sem informação da data do lançamento.

Confesso que não gostei dos arranjos e nem tampouco da parte gráfica. Achei-os sem graça e com predominância de teclados, ficando muito datado aos anos 1980. Vale apenas para colecionadores, como obra tributo e é só.

Outro ponto desse disco e de muitos outros já lançados é a total falta de informações sobre a banda, produção, gravação, local e principalmente quando foi realizado. É uma pena.
